Welcome to HISD Dyslexia!
Dyslexia Overview
Dyslexia is a common learning difference that primarily affects a child’s ability to read, spell, write, and sometimes speak. It is not related to intelligence but stems from differences in how the brain processes language. Early identification and evidence-based interventions are key to helping students with dyslexia thrive. Our district is committed to supporting all learners through targeted instruction and resources, including the use of Reading by Design—a systematic, research-based program designed specifically to meet the needs of students with dyslexia.
